How to create a macOS app from a website
On macOS, creating an app from a web application is a straightforward process that can be accomplished with just a few steps. This method allows you to transform a website into a standalone application that can be easily accessed from your Applications folder, just like any other native app. In this guide, I will walk you through the process using NoteBuddy as an example.
Prerequisites
- You need a Mac to do this.
- It's preferable to transform a Web Application into a macOS app.
Why create a macOS app from a website ?
Sometimes, you may find yourself wanting to have a clear and convenient shortcut to your favorite web applications directly on your Dock for easy access. This can be particularly useful for frequently used services like email, project management tools, or social media platforms, allowing you to launch them with just a single click. Of course, this is useful only for Web Apps that does not already a MacOS application available in the Mac Store.
Let's do it

The steps are the following:
- Go to the website you want to transform into a macOS app. In that case, it's NoteBuddy.
- Click on the Share button in the menu bar.
- Click on "Add to Dock"
- Add a custom name, logo
Now you have a macOS app from a website !
You can still personalize it as you want in the "Settings" app. For instance, remove the navigations, change the icon, etc.
